Gretchen..we no longer borrow neighbors dog.

I can't remember when I first started hunting and fishing. Growing up on The Old Family Farm in northern Michigan, Hunting and Fishing was a way of life. Sometimes, it might be fishing in the pond below the barn with our Dad or Uncle Bert. Another time, my brother and I chose to sneak over the hill to the neighbors, borrow his dog and go rabbit hunting. Of course, we thought it was well worth the punishment mother doled out when we returned home. We fished the pond and streams Spring, Summer and Fall. In the Winter we set out our shanty on Paradise Lake and was taught to ice fish by a master ice fisherman-Uncle Bert.
As we hunted each Fall when the Brook Trout were spawning, Dad would remind us that these streams would be great fishing in the Spring. Thanks to him, we were always ready when Trout season opened the last Saturday in April. With a willow stick, line, hooks and a Bandaid can full of worms, we'd hit  the creeks and streams on ours and the neighboring farms where we'd seen the fish spawning in the Fall of the year. Most days we brought home our limit of 10 trout. These creeks were only 8-10 ft across and our trout were always over the 7" length, but many were 12"-16" long. My brother and I had many fights over the best fishing holes. Oh, I remember it all so well.

This is just a start..I have so many Hunting and Fishing Memories. My intention with this web site, is to share those memories; tell Hunting and Fishing Stories, and encourage you to build your own Hunting and Fishing memories with your children and grandchildren. The fields and streams are calling...take them fishing or hunting TODAY.
